4 Tips for Celebrating the Holidays in a New Home
The holiday season can be stressful. Moving is stressful. So if
you're moving into a new home right before the holidays, you're likely feeling
a little strained. You don't even have all of your everyday items unpacked, and
you're not even sure where the Christmas tree is at the moment. It might feel
like you're not going to be able to celebrate at all, amid all the chaos of
unpacking. But don't give up on your holiday celebrations just yet. Here are a
few special ways that you can enjoy the holidays in your brand new piece of
Wallenpaupack real estate.
Start a New Tradition
You may have had holiday traditions in your old home, but why not
start some new traditions to go along with your new home? Living on the shores
of Lake Wallenpaupack gives you many opportunities to try out some new
activities. While it's obviously a bit too cold for a dip in the lake, you can
enjoy a warm bonfire on the shore, or go sledding around the lake if the snow
has started to fall. Find a new tradition that will make this first holiday in
your new home extra special.
Build a Box Fort
Whether you have kids or not, building a fort from all of your
moving boxes is a great way to take away some of the stress of unpacking. Take
a few minutes to step away from the chaos, and take advantage of all the empty
boxes and the large, open spaces of your new home. Build your box fort, then
enjoy some Christmas cookies and cocoa in it, or watch a holiday movie. (If
your TV isn't unpacked yet, you can always watch it on a laptop or tablet.)
This is a great way to make some wonderful memories of your first holiday
season in the new house.
Find Local Activities
If the chaos and clutter of your partially-unpacked home is
getting in the way of your Christmas cheer, why not get out of the house for a
bit? Look up local activities and go explore your new neighborhood! In
December, nearby Hawley hosts a very popular Winterfest with many different
holiday-themed activities. You and your family can meet some of the locals,
enjoy some special holiday time together, and maybe even start a new tradition!
Order a Special Meal
Special meals are an important part of the holidays. But if you're
still in the process of unpacking, the idea of cooking a large meal is likely
going to be a bit overwhelming. Instead, order a special meal that you can pick
up and bring home. Many restaurants and bakeries take orders for turkeys, hams,
pies, and side dishes for holiday meals. So order a few days in advance, and
take away some of the strain of the holidays without sacrificing your special
family dinner. If even eating at home feels like too much stress, due to the
clutter still in the house, you can also find restaurants that are open and
serve special meals during the holidays.
While moving during the holidays is sure to cause stress for
anyone, it doesn't mean you have to spend your holiday season unpacking boxes
instead of opening presents. You can celebrate your first holiday in your
new Wallenpaupacklakefront property in many ways, and make special memories
along the way. Try some of the suggestions above, and contact Davis R. Chant
Realtors if you're interested in moving to the Wallenpaupack area.
